2018 is set to be another great year for holiday home owners, who have prospect of taking wonderful holidays in their holiday home, or of letting it out as a source of extra income. As we look forward to the New Year it’s always good to review the financials and make sure you’ve got the cover you need for the next year. Part of this is going to be looking at any holiday home insurance requirements you might have, and the things that holiday home insurers are going to be on the lookout for.
One of our favourite requests from 2017 was the robotic lawnmower. This plucky little machine lives in its own house and is pre-programmed to come out and mow the lawn completely automatically. What a trooper! Another positive development in 2017 has been seeing just how many people now have solar water heaters on their roofs. This is really wonderful to see as these panels help to save energy, which saves money and helps save the planet – Intasure supports saving the planet!
As we move forward into 2018 we know there’s more to do. How we live, how we holiday and the risks associated with this are changing. The internet of things is bringing new risks into our homes and holiday homes, and as devices get smarter and more integrated the risk of loss can change.
One example of this is American style fridge freezers that connect straight to the mains water supply. There have been insurance claims for escape of water due to faulty connections. There have also been incidents of accidental damage to integrated systems like sound systems that run through the whole of the house.
We hope you have a happy New Year. As we look forward to 2018 take a moment to review you holiday home insurance requirement.
